Objectives

The ultimate goal of this course is designed to have students become proficient and interested in modern chemistry and the underlying principles behind it. The course content and presenting sequence is conveyed in a manner to reinforce the linkage between students’ background knowledge and the new ones, to estabilish the correlations between the daily experience and the fundamental principles relevant to it, and eventually to maximize students’ learning motivations. It is also my goal that, once the course is completed, students not only acquire the necessary knowledges and skills of general chemistry, but also learn to acknowledge the chemistry behind the observed phenomenon in our daily life and appreciate the beauty of nature.
